SEP was conceived in 1992 after the closure of the Steering division of Automotive Products, primarily to provide a continuity of service to the bus and truck spares industry. Working in partnership with Pailton Engineering the new owners of the original equipment manufacturers for steering equipment, SEP has positioned itself firmly at the heart of the distribution industry for commercial steering equipment. All current SEP staff are ex Automotive Products employees with a combined AP working experience of over 50 years coming from sales, engineering, design and manufacturing areas. Since an initial approach by London Buses Ltd. in the early 90s, it has been our long-term aim to supply a range of 'consumable' ball joints for both modern day current production buses and trucks, and also to supersede the older 'repairable type' joints with a cost effective modern alternative. This gives the benefits of both reduced costs and reduced vehicle down time during the service operation. Following the initial 2 year development period with London Buses and other major bus companies, a range of consumable steering joints covering most of the popular buses and other passenger vehicles was developed. These are available for delivery within 24 hours and in volumes as little as 1 off. In the last five years SEP has expanded into the hydraulics market for firstly the forklift industry and more recently the classic car market where we are suppliers of original equipment from Caparo AP Braking, formerly The Lockheed Hydraulic Brake division of Automotive Products Plc.
